A scrap wood project. Hemlock and pine end table. The challenge was to design in such a way that glue would not be needed.
I built this cabinet to hold trinkets and small items gathering around my apartment. I used no glue or nails on this project. Its comforting to know it can be disassembled, although probably will never be again. Baltic birch plywood for the shelves and case, oak plywood for the doors, maple trim, douglas Fir legs keep it off the ground. Using 3 disimilar woods made staining a challenge and some blending was required. I mixed a bit of purple into natural to achieve a match for the natural western canadian maple.
LWH - 100 x 30 x 70cm
A table built for crafting. It was designed for a friend to fit on a small patio. I wanted to give a feeling of balance using the shelf, although I think i missed the mark as the table is pretty narrow and the shelf also a bit small to really give any pleasant urgency. I had to build a wood lathe using a 3d printer and an old sewing maching to get the taper on the legs. Was also fun to play with pigment to get a pastel color with the polyurethane. I added some red and white to get a nice subtle hue and avoid the yellowing typical of protective coatings. Table is built out of Douglas fir legs and table top. Maple trim. Ash shelf.
A console table to fit in a small entrance. My friends had a hard time finding a table to fit in their entrance way. Condos can be very limiting here in Vancouver. I made them this console table out of glass fibre reinforced concrete and walnut. It fits the space well and provides them with convenient storage for grab items as they leave their place. This was my first GFRC project and I think it turned out well.
A standing mirror made for my sisters new house. They had requested something not dainty and feminine. I ebonized the maple with iron acetate to give a slate look, which I then finished with wax to create a slightly dusty and rock like texture. I used concrete and maple for this project. I put and a GFRC recipe calculator in the menu if you are curious to try something like this yourself.
Scrap wood project. A simple flight. Minus the beer. Maple with walnut inlay.
A coffee table I built for myself out of hickory. Stained it with a pigment stain. Very strong. This wood was hard on equipment.
My first project, Red Oak and Poplar Dining Table. It had proven difficult to find a nice table at the right dimensions for the small apartment where I live, so I made my own.
